Guest Performers

CONGRATULATIONS TO DIXIE DETGEN FOR WITH TODAY’S CONCERT SHE HAS COMPLETED HER FIFTIETH YEAR PERFORMING WITH THE ST JOSEPH MUNICIPAL BAND.

With this concert she announces she will take a well deserved break from the band in her future, cause she did that for the last 50 years and now she’ll have a well deserved break.  What a sensational record! After 29 years of teaching in the Buchanan Community Schools, she retired and is currently the oboe instructor in the Salvation Army Arts and Education Program, plays oboe with the Southhold Wind Ensemble (South Bend, IN) and the St. Joseph Municipal Band and owns her own business called Detgen Seminars and Clinics, working with bands and directors throughout the state. She holds memberships in MENC, where she is a nationally registered teacher, ASBDA, serving on the Foundation Board, NBA, IDRS, MSBOA, AF of M, and SAI. She was the MSBOA Band Teacher of the Year in 1996. We will miss her presence and fantastic contribution to the band and wish her well in being able to choose what to do on Thursday nights and Sundays during the summers.

STACIE DETGEN is in her 19th year of teaching instrumental music education and her 14h year at Charlotte Middle School. She is a native of Buchanan, MI. Stacie is a graduate of Michigan State University and has a Master of Music Education degree from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. This is her 27h year of membership with the St. Joseph Municipal Band.  KRISTIE DETGEN is a graduate of Buchanan High School, Lake Michigan College and Davenport University in Grand Rapids, receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration . She is an eight year veteran of the United States Army, assigned as a French horn player at Ft. Gordon, GA and Ft. Lee, VA. Currently she teaches private French horn students and has been a member of the St. Joseph Municipal Band for 15 years

GARY A. COOPER Lake Michigan College, Indiana University of South Bend and the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago. Cooper has played with the Michigan Opera Orchestra as well as the South Bend, Kalamazoo and Chicago Civic Symphonies and sang in the Chicago Symphony Chorus. He has performed as a soloist with Southwestern Michigan Symphony, Elkhart Symphonies as well as the St Joseph Municipal Band and sings in a chamber vocal group called Opus Nine. Cooper is Artist in Residence in the St. Joseph Public Schools. He also teaches at the Arts Center for the Salvation Army and teaches private lessons. Cooper is an active clinician and soloist in the Midwest region.

THE LAKESHORE LANCERETTES are coached by Pam Hoover. The captains of this years squad are Janet Caswell and Megan Dwyer.  The girls took 1st place on all of their nightly ratings at camp, 1st place for their Short Program, 3rd place on their Open Routine, and 1st place in their division overall.  The Senior Kickline routine which included Janet Caswell, Megan Dwyer, Alexis Finch, Sarah Mabry, Carolyn Pampalone, and Kayla Rantz earned a 1st place ribbon. Carolyn Pampalone earned the honor of All Star at camp.  The Lancerettes choreograph all of the routines themselves
