Jeff Cramer, and Alan Mitchell will guest conduct two numbers. The evening
concert will be followed with our traditional 9:00 p.m. late night “Big
Band” performing many of your ‘favorites’ and featuring Jeff Cramer,
vocal soloist.

FEATURED PERFORMERS
ROBERT
RUSK, a native of South Bend received his initial musical training in the public
school music program. As a student
at John Adams Senior High, he performed as the tubist with the South Bend and
Elkhart Symphony orchestras. Mr.
Rusk is a graduate of the Indian University School of Music.
He studied with the late William Bell, a former member of the John Philip
Sousa band. His primary teacher was
the late Arnold Jacobs, tubist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for 44 season.
He was a member of the Chicago Civic Orchestra, and was tubist of the
Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra for 25 seasons and performed with the Peninsula
Music Festival in Door County for 13 season.
While in Milwaukee, he served on the music faculties of the University of
Wisconsin–Milwaukee, Northwestern University and Lawrence College.
DR. JONATHAN KORZUN is beginning is 16th year at Southwestern Michigan College,
Dr. Jonathan Korzun serves as Director of Bands and Instructor of Music Theory.
His duties include conducting the Symphonic Band, Brass Band and Jazz Ensemble
and teaching the four semester sequence of Music Theory classes. Guest artists
brought to SMC by Dr. Korzun have included Clark Terry, Ed Shaunessey, Phil
Barham, Ellis Marcellus, Vincent DiMartino and William Camp. Dr. Korzun received
his B.A. (with high honors, Phi Beta Kappa) in Music Education and M.A. in Music
Theory/Composition from Rutgers University (New Jersey), and his Ed.D.
in Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. A
music educator with over 25 years experience, Dr. Korzun's previous experience
includes Associate Director of Bands at Rutgers University, instructor of
conducting at the University of Illinois, and positions as band and choir
director in the New Jersey public schools. He is active as a trombone player,
and guest conductor. He is a member of the St. Joseph Municipal Band and Lake
Effect Jazz Big Band. Dr. Korzun frequently serves as a clinician with area
school music programs. He also has extensive experience as music director and
conductor of musical theater productions with over three dozen shows to his
credit. Dr. Korzun resides in Dowagiac with his wife, Donna.SALLY STINE was born
and raised in St. Joseph and currently resides in Lake Township. She is married
and is the mother of three daughters, and grandmother of one.
Although she has had no formal vocal training, she has been performing
locally for more than 30 years. She is probably best known as a "Wedding
Vocalist", but also provides music for local restaurants, pageants and
programs. Sally enjoys performing a wide variety of music, from country to
classical.
