    The St. Joseph Municipal Band continues 2003 summer concert series with concerts on Sunday, July 13 at the normal 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. at the John E. N. Howard Band Shell in downtown St. Joseph overlooked Lake Michigan.

    Director Moely indicated that this week’s concerts will begin with "March and Procession of Bacchus," by Leo Delibes, followed by an Earl McCoy march entitled "Lights Out."

    Next the band features William Camp, formerly of Niles, who is now a professional trumpet performer from Chicago.

    WILLIAM CAMP enters his eighteenth year as a traveling performer and guest soloist. Camp has appeared with the Lake Forest Symphony, American Ballet Theater Orchestra, Northwest Indiana Symphony, Kenosha Symphony, Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra and the Symphonic Pops Orchestra of Chicago and now performs with Chicago Classic Brass. He has performed in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, and at La Scala, Italy. As a soloist Mr. Camp has appeared with The Quad Cities Symphony, The Dallas Wind Symphony, Chicago Chamber Brass, Northwest Indiana Symphony, and many other performing ensembles. Camp graduated from Oberlin College Conservatory of Music and The University of Michigan and his principal teachers include Gene Young, Louis Davidson, Armando Ghitalla and Thomas Crown

    Mr. Camp will perform Herbert L. Clarke’s compositing "Neptune's Court." Dr. Moely indicated, "Clarke was the trumpet soloist with the Sousa band for many years and composed several difficult solos, which make great challenges for performers today".

    The band follows by featuring the entire trumpet section of the band including Craig Heitger, section leader of South Bend; Jay Crouch, of Niles; Charles Steck of La Porte, Brian Milnikel, St. Joseph, Jay Miller, South Bend, Judith Koenig, Michigan City, Debbie Kroening, St. Joseph, who join William Clarke in the "Cascading Trumpets" quartet feature number.

    John Philip Sousa’s "Mother Goose March" which is featured next by the band. Followed by "Big Band Spectacular," which nursery rhymes put together by Sousa into a marc. Highlights of may of the big band favorite numbers familiar to the audiences are featured next in "Big Band Showcase" arranged by Bob Lowden. A special arrangement of "The Blue Bells of Scotland" is next by Leroy Anderson. The music of Disney is highlighted in "A Disney Spectacular," arranged by John Moss. The Concert concludes with a Russell Alexander march entitled "The Southerner."

The concerts are each Sunday at 3:30 & 7:30 p.m. and last about one hour. The band is in the part of their season with concerts each Sunday until August 31, and then the season concludes with Monday, September 1, labor day concerts which conclude the season. There is no admission for the concerts.
